A Joyetech eGrip is such a user-friendly invention that you won’t be surprised to hear it comes from the makers of the original eGo e cig. This Joyetech product combines both the elements of a vaporizer into one handy format making a system that is not only easy but also compact. Joyetech released the eGrip in more than one format, however: CS, CL, and RBA. We are going to look specifically at how the eGrip works with a CS atomizer head.
The eGrip OLED Vaporizer
Firstly, take a look at what your hardware can do. This is a variable volt/watt machine with a 2V to 8V range and capable of up to 30 watts, but they recommend a limit of 20W for the sake of safety. Shift between variable voltage and variable watt modes as you please, but VW is safer because voltage is determined automatically according to your selected wattage and the resistance of your tank.
Colors of Joye
The OLED eGrip comes in 6 colors: cherry red, sky blue, magic blue, pearl white, black, and silver. A beautiful display shows up nicely against any one of them, depicting readings in volts, watts, and ohms. With such a selection of shades one can own an eGrip that coordinates with many outfits.
Making Adjustments
Adjust wattage or voltage using a dial that turns 360º making this a one-button system. That is only for turning the Joyetech eGrip OLED on and off to keep non-users safe and also to prevent battery waste and overheating when you don’t intend to use the eGrip. Recharge its built-in 1500-mAh battery with a charging cord enclosed and allow about 2.5 hours.
Tank Talk
The internal tank holds 3.6 ml of liquid which you can see dropping slowly through a narrow window as you vape. A long silver mouthpiece is also part of the package and brings the device’s total length to 99.5 mm. You can hold this in the palm of your hand with ease.
eGrip OLED CS Head
Each version of the eGrip OLED comes with a built-in atomizer, but the heads can be removed. The CS head is a low-resistance atomizer no good for sub-ohm vaping and probably not great with very thick juices. It is a 1.5-ohm atomizer best operated between 3.5 and 5.5 volts or 8 to 20W using mouth inhalation.
The RBA, by contrast, is good for lung inhalation and 1 ohm but for use at similar wattage and voltage values (8W to 20W, 2.9V to 4.5V, as recommended by the manufacturer). While 20 watts is powerful enough for most folks, it is not the stuff of cloud-chasing legends and sub-ohm RTAs. Still, experience clean, thick vapor and enjoy not having to choose a tank for your mod.
Purchasing the JoyeTech OLED eGrip CS
Although convenience is the premium selling point of this product, the eGrip is not sold at a premium price. You can expect to hand out about $100 for the package and all you have to add is e juice. Occasionally, you will need to replace atomizer heads which are sold in packs of five for about $16 to $20.
There are several tall oval intake holes, organic cotton, and a vertical dual coil inside the head, all of which are supposed to facilitate the use of thick juice. Do them justice with Charlie Noble, Velvet Clouds, or King’s Crown: something tasty and well-made.
I got this egrip last week. Put in my peanut butter jelly ejuice (55vg/45pg) and I can’t taste it. 4.6 Volt - 13.2 watt . Used to vape pb&j in a clearomizer on a ego C twist and it tasted great. Don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if its just me….
Hey Julie, that could be a couple things.
One would be if the juice is burning some on the atomizer, which would take from the taste, and it should have a slightly burn taste if so.
If you have a spare atomizer, you can swap it and check, and make sure to let the e-juice sit on it for a couple minutes to prime the dry atomizer, or else that can fry it pretty fast.
Then you can also try going at a lower power level, as it could be too much for the juice, as 13.2 watts is likely a bit more power than the eGo Twist had.
One other thing, which is probably the least likely, but possible, is called Vaper’s Tongue. Essentially you can’t taste your e juice and it is simply from repeated use over time.
Not sure what the actual reason is, but if you switch to a different flavor, off and on, that can help.
Hopefully that solves it for you.
My first guess is something to do with the extra power over the eGo, and hopefully a little less power will do the trick, and of course the battery will last longer.
