Start the new year with a new mod: the Smok R80 TC Vape Mod. Smok is known for their XCube and TFV4 atomizer tank. Will the R80 TC mod be as satisfying?

In some ways it might be even better because you don’t have to mess around with any other technology to enjoy your vaping experience fully. You might have wondered why there are not more Bluetooth-compatible vape mods on the market: probably because many vapers prefer a hands-on experience.

Still, Smok`s new vape mod gives you the choice of accessing information via smartphone or just using the device as usual. You don`t have to choose right away: techno-phobic individuals can build up to the idea.

Compatible Technology

Record and read vaping progress by using your smartphone. Smok provides an app to customers who love technology: the more the better. Use it to see how many puffs you take to get through a bottle of e juice or before you have to recharge the battery. Chart preferred wattage and temperature for future reference.

All about the R80 TC

This is a temperature control mod with 80W maximum output and a temperature co-efficient against resistance as well to achieve consistent resistance. If you want to use the temperature control function, it’s necessary to set up your tank (the TFV4 perhaps) with a titanium coil or a nickel coil. With these coils you can achieve a minimum of 0.05 ohms of resistance, which is amazingly low resistance. Stainless steel will do when you vape in variable wattage.

Talking about Safety

The R80 uses a 4000-mAh built-in battery which the system carefully monitors for your safety. Use a micro port for USB charging and you do not have to stop vaping when you recharge. A stable DC circuit looks after battery efficiency.

The PCB protects you from over-vaping (there is a 12-second cut-off to prevent you from over-stressing the battery), gives out a low battery warning, defends against high-output, supplies overheating protection, and prevents a short-circuit. A vent next to the USB port also lets out heat so your battery does not become too hot.

Similar Smok Style

You have seen something like this from Smok before: the Smok R80 TC vape mod is not hugely different from predecessors but comes in multiple colors. It is the same boxy shape which lacks some of the aesthetic appeal of other mods, but in exchange you get Smok quality and reliability. There are three buttons: a large circular button for turning the device on, off, and locking into a mode; and two up/down buttons below the screen which are a little smaller.

Dainty Display

A box mod is a compact item, so there is not much room for a screen. Don’t expect a lot: just enough room to read important figures like how much life remains in your battery before it needs a recharge, wattage, temperature, and ohms.

Some mods feature bigger screens and they are so much easier to read, but the difference is in millimeters and this isn’t a bad display. Keep in mind that some of those other mods with 0.91-inch display are bigger than the 85 mm R80 TC. Smok’s PCB creates digits that are easy to read.

Protective Case

The Smok R80 TC mod does not come with a silicon case, but if you buy one separately it will protect your vaporizer every time your drop it or spill something on it. Silicon is also comfortable in your hand, so you might want to cover it with the case (white or black) regardless of whether you expect to subject it to a lot of wear and tear. It’ll just feel nicer to hold silicone rather than metal.
