Helve literally means “handle of a tool or weapon” like a sword, scythe, machete, etc. The asMODus Helve is designed to represent the butt of a gun or gaming joystick. Whichever the vaper sees when he looks at this practical portable vape mod is an indicator of his job, his hobbies, or his interests.

Regardless of what the consumer sees, however, this is definitely a tool and not a weapon, especially with such great on-board protective features provided by an extra-special chipset.

asMODus Helve for TC and VW Vaping

Set yourself up for vaping with variable watts or variable temperature. Simply press the buttons for total control and customization: one for power and mode; one for raising watts/temp; another for lowering temp/watts. The Helve can be set between 5 watts and 120 watts but will only allow a range up to 60 watts in Temperature Control mode which gives you between 212F and 572F (100C to 300C).

Resistance of the Helve

A weapon is a tool of resistance against some force. At Asmodus, the force is electrical power and resistance is provided by an atomizer coil of your choice. Choose a coil rated to a low of 0.1 ohms or as high as 2.5 ohms.

The lowest values are acceptable when you operate using a temperature-sensitive heating element like Titanium or Nickel 200. In variable watt setting, it is possible to reach the higher values that TC setting will not accept, only you must be using regular coil, probably Kanthal.

Double Chip

Asmodus employs a double control chip for extra safety and efficiency. With this pair in place, you will enjoy reduced battery consumption without loss of performance or protection, resulting in 94% system efficiency. By their estimate, your two 18650 cells should last up to 30% longer than they would if you installed them in another mod such as the Kanger KBox 120W or Pioneer4You iPV4S.

This chip, the GX120, also protects against battery reversal, warns against high or low voltage input, and defends your mod if it detects resistance below 0.1 ohms or above 2.5 ohms. The chips will not be allowed to overheat either.

Design of the Asmodus Helve

Most vape mods are designed for sportiness, stealth, perhaps a classy or sporty presentation. The Helve has “aggression” written all over it but it’s still ergonomic, perhaps more so than any other mod.

While designers at Chinese manufacturers like SMOK and Sigelei soften the exterior with rounded sides on a squarish-frame, the US-designed Helve provides a forward-facing shape plus grooves for your fingers.

The power button is mounted at the place where your forefinger goes. It feels like holding a gaming joystick. When I say “forward-facing,” I mean there is a slant to the device, so if you sat it flat on a surface the top would sit ahead of the bottom with the atomizer tank at the back.

Pros and Cons to the Helve

If you want to be discrete, the Helve will blow your cover. If you hoped to encourage non-vapers that e cigs are meant for harm reduction, the weaponry motif might not support your case. Screen and control buttons will be covered by your hand if you are left-handed but the up/down switches are small and not easily deployed by mistake.

The screen is small but square, clearer than rectangular ones. It’s really an ergonomic build. I can imagine the power button being a pro for people who don’t grip too tightly because of its natural placement. This is comfortable to hold. Asmodus says the placement of your atomizer tank prevents heave.

Those who have experience heaving will know what they mean and appreciate the difference. A 510-threaded pin allows you to install just about any atomizer. A good fit in black could be the SMOK Helmet, Limitless Bandana RDA in black, or a black Joye Cubis RBA.
