Is it a vape mod or a handheld phone? Could this be a tiny tablet like an iPod or some kind of digital camera? The iSmog Touch Mod is a little bit of lots of things rolled into one but it is not a communication device. I am also a little wary about it. Although packaging, wrapping, and the overall look of it are impressive and professional, it’s not easy to find one anywhere for sale.
Why Mod Shops Carry Goods
What prompts a store to carry a Smok R80 or the Kanger Nebox? They choose devices based on several factors. One is customer interest. Pre-orders are good so they know a device is worth carrying in the long term or pre-orders are low so they let the device get phased out in the clearance section.
The company name is good, reliable, respected such as Kanger, SMOK, Innokin, or Joyetech. Store owners try a device and like it. The manufacturer comes up with a good wholesale arrangement that benefits companies and their clients. They know they can make a profit out of the device without pricing it beyond what the product is worth.
So why isn’t the iSmog Touch Mod on virtual vape store shelves? It could be that early client interest was low, testing was unsuccessful and riddled with problems, the wholesale price is too high for what store owners think the device is worth, or the brand has a bad or non-existent reputation.
The iSmog Touch Mod Up Close
Images on YouTube depict a tiny box with one button (the power switch) and a full-face color screen. Consumers would control this unit by touching the screen as they would with a Smartphone or an iPod. There are several icons prompting you to create settings, personalize the device, and so on. Choose a language. Set the time and date. Set up your vaping preferences. Adjust lighting, change the wallpaper, and more.
Settings for the Flex iSmog Touch Mod
So this is a moderately powerful unit featuring variable voltage and adjustable temperature plus a 510 threading well that will easily accommodate many types of tanks. One video showed it with a short top-fill tank which looks very good; not top-heavy.
Install a tank capable of 75W vaping as this unit will climb that high, but also as far as 600F. I can’t see what the minimum atomizer resistance is but it’s probably around 0.1 ohms: standard for this level of vaping.
Aesthetics
The box is plain black, not very flashy, but you’ve got the screen to give you a buzz if you want some color to brighten up your day. Definition is okay: relatively crisp, not like a Samsung or Apple device, but close enough. Graphs showing vaping data were nothing special and did not blow my mind. External ridges will help to prevent dropping the unit which also features USB charging and auto shut-off.
First of Its Kind?
I’m kind of sure that SMY released a mod like this before or at least around the time of the iSmog, and Sigelei has the T150 that was announced a few months ago.
Until there are some more reviews, if you just want a touch screen vape mod, I would probably buy one from SMY or Sigelei in preference to the iSmog 75 mod because the Simeiyue (SMY) and Sigelei names have a bit more respectability to them and I can find the devices on more e-commerce sites.
That means support is readily available if I have problems. And if you just love it, go for it, and leave a comment here and let us know how it is. Here is a preview from a well known reviewer:
