It took a little while to figure out what the Kanger KBOX Mini Platinum MOD 60W made me think of. Kanger constructed it from high-quality SUS 304 stainless steel instead of the softer style of a Nano or Subox and the effect was nagging at me, as though I had seen a similar effect somewhere before.
Then I realized how much images of the Mini Platinum made me think of robots in the Terminator movies and the flowing effect as though the metal would melt when the robots turned into people, more like mercury than steel. So, in other words, the Platinum has a futuristic, sci-fi style that’s a little too sterile for my taste, but perfect for anyone who loves serious metal.
Kanger Mini Platinum Specifications
For about $70, consumers receive an unusual style of mod: almost traditional yet a little subversive in some respects, though in a stylish way. The power panel forms one long piece unlike the 70W with its front-facing screen and up/down switches. Indentations in two places catch the eye, surprising users with broken lines compared with many rounded, symmetrical items.
Replaceable Batteries
One indent acts as a nest for the micro port you plug a USB cable into. In spite of its presence, the port is not there because you have to plug into a laptop to recharge; the batteries are removable. Select your favored method of recharging according to where you are and what you are doing. Buy four 18650 cells so two are always charged and ready when the other pair needs replenishing. If the cells aren’t ready, switch to a different mod or just plug this one into the laptop.
Temperature Control Device
Select your mode: variable wattage or temperature control. In variable wattage, your box mod still looks out for high temperatures and will dial you down away from the danger zone, but in temperature control mode you select a temperature and the device looks after watts that are getting away from you.
Select a rebuildable atomizer that allows vapers to replace coils with Nickel 200 or Titanium (Ni200 or Ti) in order to vape at very high temperatures without hitting the top wattage. At the highest temperature, you can reckon on vaping successfully at 0.1 ohms. A 510 spring-loaded threading well allows users to choose from a huge assortment of suitable sub-ohm tanks: the Phantom, TFV4, Atlantis, and so on.
Protective
Your $70 unit is ready for anything, including known hazards such as overheating, short circuit, and overcharging. A ten-second cut-off is built in to prevent people who over-vape from stressing the battery.
More from Kanger
The KBOX 70W is about to be released: consider this mod in red, black, or white as an alternative with 10 watts more power and a gentler presence. An 18650 cell is recharged via the port to give you 4000-mAh Control Panel.
Kanger’s new 200-watt and 120-watt mods will also be out soon, so sign up to pre-order. Both are TC/VW devices compatible with 0.05-ohm coils. Like the Platinum Mini and 70W, these are small vaporizers.
You could be surprised: their presence is big but measurements are small. Kanger also provides a range of sub ohm tanks in varying sizes with assorted pre-built coils and an RBA deck for building your own. Kanger products are sold by many vape stores and online vendors around the country.
