Kanger’s at it again, bringing vapers around the world another setup with the clearomizer and electronic device both included.
This one is the Kanger Top EVOD starter kit and it’s coming soon to a store near you.
Not much is being advertised online just yet, but from what I can tell this is a simple mix and match situation in which Kanger takes two well known pieces — an EVOD and a Toptank — and puts them together in case you hadn’t thought of doing that before.
What It Looks Like
This is a bit like a Subvod in that you have a tube mod at the bottom instead of a box like the Nebox or Kbox. It measures 18.5 mm across, so the tube is quite a bit wider than the EVOD you learned to use as a new vaper and might be holding in your hand right now.
The set comes in red, white, black, or silver with matching tank accents, a black mouthpiece, and various contrast features. On a black version of the Top EVOD, button and O-rings are red. Otherwise, these parts are black on each of the other sets.
Operating the Battery Kit
In many respects, the Kanger Top EVOD battery operates just the same as a regular EVOD, but now you have 1300mAh — twice the power of the original. Voltage is the same at 3.7, but the Kanger Top EVOD can handle 0.4-ohm resistance: sub ohms in other words. It’s a one-button device, so nothing fancy; no screen or anything. Kanger uses a light indicator to tell you the battery is low and is recharged using a USB cable.
Vape Protection
Because of this very low potential resistance rating, the battery is safeguarded by a chip inside the device which prevents vapers from crossing the line into dangerous electronic conditions. Those would be things like trying to use the tank with a coil that’s built for lower than 0.4 ohms or recharging the battery and then forgetting to take it out off the charge.
The Kanger Top EVOD prevents the device from experiencing a short circuit when the atomizer coil is not suitable and charging stops when the cell is full so you can’t overload it. The battery is built in, so reverse battery protection is not required.
Threading Compatibility
Although the 18.5 mm tank diameter would appear out of place on many large devices, 510 threading increases its compatibility and also the compatibility of this battery with other tanks. Again, a regular sub ohm tank measuring 22 mm or wider would overshadow the battery. Joyetech’s eGo One measures 19 mm, so those parts could pair with parts from the Kanger set.
The Tank
Very little is being said about this starter kit as yet but it appears to be a blend of EVOD technology plus the Toptank Nano which fits devices as above. This version of the Toptank holds up to 3.2 ml and provides an airflow adjustment valve.
It uses SSOCC (stainless steel with organic cotton coils) and is designed to be refilled from the top or the bottom. New coils have been released as well such as the TC compatible Nickel 200 and vertical coils.
Vapers will probably enjoy this tank in its own right because it is versatile. Use it with a VW machine like the iStick 40 or a Mini Book by Sigelei with potential to reach 40 watts and a Temperature Control setting. These are both compact units; the Toptank Nano would complement them nicely in the correct choice of color.
Where to Buy the Kanger Top EVOD
Authorized retailers will soon have this starter kit on their display shelves. If you are an online shopper, place a pre-order today and select your favorite shade before it sells out and you have to settle for one you don’t like as much.
