Up until the moment Pioneer4You released their coil-free tank series, vapers associated 0.05-ohm vaping with temperature control mods. They had no idea there was any other way to reach such a low level of resistance.
Now that Yihi has introduced their special chipset, one found in the iPV5 and YihiSX Special Q Class mod, vapers can discover what it means to vape to their fullest potential without temperature control coils using the iPV Pure Janus tank.
Not-TC, but Terrific Choice
This is not an invitation to stop buying temperature control mods but a way to introduce sub-ohm vaping to users of VW coils. TC settings make vaping more efficient and often safer, but one reason for their introduction was so that vape mods could function at lower output but still create high temperatures and superior vapor.
What if you didn’t need those special coils to achieve such a feat? That’s what Pioneer4You and Yihi do with the design; they make it a moot point whether your coils are made from Kanthal or Titanium. This is a coil-free system.
Heating Element
You’d need to get right into the atomizer and take a closer look to understand how this works in real time. A wicking system is still required to deliver vape juice to an element but wicks are easily changeable. They last a long time as does the system in general, although a special alloy is involved in the process. It’s not Ni200, Titanium, or 316 Stainless Steel, however, or the Janus cannot be used in TC function.
The iPV Pure Janus Tank
Pioneer4You has actually released two very similar tanks made from Pyrex and stainless steel, but only one is ready to introduce this new coil-less system to their customers. The X2 is larger, holding 3.5 ml and measuring 23 mm across, and uses pre-built coils.
The Janus holds only 2 ml and measures 22 mm, but vapers refill it from the top, so capacity isn’t that big a deal. Select one with caps colors blue, white, silver, or black topped by a stainless steel drip tip with a beveled lip.
Airflow control is supplied in the base cap. With this tank, you can reach those very low resistance levels and vape at 75W or 75J on either the iPV5 or Yihi SX Special Q Class vaporizer.
All about Function
What I find disappointing about the Janus is its bland looks. While Pioneer4You creates a highly functional and clean item with a slender build and clean overall appearance, it lacks something difficult to define. Grooves in the caps make gripping easier as you dismantle the product in order to clean it, replace coils and to check that the glass tubes haven’t cracked.
Everything is where it should be. I’ve noticed, however, that certain tanks feature subtle ornamentation in their groove patterns which give the product a little something extra.
I don’t know if the Janus will be effective with other vaporizers as it is with the two mentioned above either. Yes, the makers say it will work, but are you likely to enjoy the performance as much when you are connected to an eVic VTC or a Kanger KBox? The Janus and Yihi’s special firmware appear to have been made specifically for each other.
