QuickDraw makes a series of vaporizers for modern consumers living a smoke-free life. They promise to bring you pure vapor, peerless versatility, and unique style (quoted from the QuickDraw website).
What does this mean in reality?
Well, you can bet your herbs won’t burn (pure vapor, remember) and you can fit their equipment into a busy, active life (versatility). Your vaporizer will also fit with your personal style: that is, modern and youthful. In fact, if I had to say this vaporizer was made for any group it would be the under-30s. That’s just the way QuickDraw comes across.
Two Classes
QuickDraw vaporizers are divided into two classes: 300 and 500. The 300 series is smaller than its 500 cousin and considerably cheaper. I’m not sure which came first — the V2 Pro Series or this vaporizer — but they look a lot alike. Take a look at V2’s Pro Series for yourself and see what I mean.
The QuickDraw 500 DLX Vaporizer
The 500 DLX is a short, stubby-looking vaporizer with three cartridges for three different materials: dry, liquid, and extracts (wax). It comes with a cleaning set, wall adapter, and USB charger for $200. Shipping is free when you order directly from QuickDraw. Select black, Sandstone Gold, Twilight Purple, or Turquoise.
Operation
Here is how it works: a battery base attaches to a cartridge using a magnetic port. Sounds familiar? That’s how the Pro Series operates: by sliding a cartridge into a port where it fits with a battery without threading, twisting, or clicking. The Pro Series is not as pretty, though, because V2 only makes theirs in black. You can buy the Pro Series with just an e liquid tank if you want, though, and pay less money at the outset.
At the top is a wide, short mouthpiece. The bottom houses a magnetic USB port. Again, this is how V2 does it. You don’t click or twist or screw anything in: just attach the base to the port and your built-in battery will start charging and light indicators will show you how the charge is going.
Setup
In the middle are what QuickDraw refers to as the Intensity Gauge and an LED Heating Button. You know what the latter is (press this to activate heating and it lights up too). It’s the other part that might sound odd. Basically, the battery reads a code on each cartridge to determine how hot it should become. You burn wax at a higher temperature than leaves, for example, and you don’t want to overheat herbs or you will wind up smoking.
Pros and Cons
Some people like a built-in battery. It is easy to recharge the device and you never lose the battery because it’s always where you need it. Anyone who gets distracted in the middle of a task knows how easy it is to remove a cell, intend to place it in a charger, then answer the phone and put their battery in the freezer or some other silly place.
On the other hand, having a removable battery allows you to swap cells when one runs out of juice and keep vaping without having to wait the short time until your vaporizer is recharged.
A magnetic connection system is wear-free: there are no metal pieces to wear down, like threading rings which get stuck after a few months of use. Magnets connect every time without fuss. This does, however, make the entire system proprietary. You can’t switch cartridge brands because QD 500 DLX cartridges only work with QD 500 DLX batteries.
Additionally, this is a 3-in-1 vaporizer of quality. You really do get a good-looking, highly functional machine for the money. You don’t have to swap from one vaporizer to the other as you change materials (liquid, wax, or herbs). Cartridges still need to be swapped over, but you can get them ready ahead of time and leave them full of material for the next session.
