On the outside this could be one of the most beautiful sub ohm RBAs the industry has produced so far: The Sense Herakles Hydra tank.
This RBA is a gorgeous-looking item, its stainless steel construction accented with rings in red or black at the base or a monochromatic but textured look for vapers who prefer the simplest design possible. Could the Herakles Hydra by Sense be your next sub ohm tank? Find out below.
Elements of Gorgeous Hardware
Stainless steel is the only metal suitable for sub ohm tanks atop mods capable of 20, 30, and even 50 watts such as a mid-range iStick by Eleaf or potentially 600F in your mod’s Variable Temperature mode (a Mini Book by Sigelei, for example). Stainless steel will not become warped by the heat or emit noxious vapors.
It is clean, resistant to rust, and durable. Threads remain crisp for many months and, potentially, years of use. The tall, insulated mouthpiece is also made from stainless steel and insulated with a material called Delrin. This popular insulator prevents hot e juice vapor from making the entire mouthpiece hot so you don’t get burned.
Features of a Strong Tube
The transparent tube tank of this RBA is made from Pyrex glass, a durable material which is also capable of handling high temperatures. When e juice sits in a glass tube for a few hours between vaping sessions, it does not acquire an unnatural flavor; the sort that plastic tanks create in the same situation.
Plastic and other synthetic materials could also warp and release vapor under these conditions, so you must always apply a glass tank with a sub ohm coil for high-output vaping. Furthermore, while hardware provides a bit of protection, it can’t prevent glass from taking a few knocks. Pyrex can stand up to a few rigors as long as you aren’t rough with the RBA.
Small Tank
The tank isn’t generous at just 2 ml. Then again, most sub ohm tanks are small because they are designed to emulate the dripping experience. Use the top-fill method to keep your tank topped-up without going through the time consuming and potentially sticky rigmarole of removing your tank from its mod every time you run out of e juice. That happens a lot when vapers engage in high-temperature vaping.
Big Range
Although the tank comes with a 1.8-ohm coil for variable watt vaping from 15 watts to 50 watts, it is also compatible with a 0.2-ohm Hydra coil made from top-class Nickel 200. Only this coil is acceptable when you vape in VT mode on any device.
The chipset in your mod will be able to detect what sort of metal is being used as well as the coil build so you do not set it for resistance that’s too high or too low. The only coils available for the Herakles Hydra, however, are pre-built for the specific resistance rating noted above, so there would have to be a miscalculation at the manufacturer’s end to wind up with resistance other than 1.8 ohms or 0.2 ohms.
More about the Coil
The Hydra Herakles by Sense is a top-class coil utilizing the best material: organic cotton from Japan. Why do manufacturers insist on using this expensive stuff and tell vapers to use it too? They know what sorts of nasty debris is emitted from other types of materials which are heated to 500+F and it can’t be good for your lungs. Only organic cotton, not silica or budget cotton, will be good enough.
