You might have guessed already that Sigelei is not considered a tank specialist although the Moonshot really grabs a person’s attention with its unusual mouthpiece shape. This Chinese vape manufacturer is far better known for their considerable range of vape mods like the Mini Book, UFO, and Spark.

Even if you visit their website, Sigelei does not go into a lot of detail or get excited about their tanks. I don’t know what they have against promoting themselves, but fortunately a few vape stores carry the Ares and are willing to tell you what they know about the Sigelei Ares Sub Ohm Tank. If not for them, vapers would stumble upon the Ares by accident.
Sigelei RBA
For example, this is a big tank at 4.8 ml. Although there are bigger RBAs, what strikes me as interesting is that they seem to be hedging their bets. Even though vapers can fill vape juice from the top, as with an RDA, they provide room for a significant volume of e liquid that’s not needed in this case. The height of their tube is a little lower as a result, but Sigelei chose to create a wide format instead, so it already boasts a shorter stature than one might imagine.
Mod Compatibility
There are just two coil options listed for the Sigelei Ares sub ohm tank: a 0.5-ohm Kanthal variety and one rated 0.2 ohms, made from Ni200 for use with TC tanks. The first of these is suitable at up to 50 watts, so it’s an ideal accompaniment to the Sigelei Mini Book.
The 0.2-ohm coil handles temperature control settings on the T150 and Fuchai. That’s everything as far as coils are concerned and I don’t read any information about a rebuild deck, so it appears your options are limited. The Sigelei Ares operates best with mods of only moderate power, so I wouldn’t recommend it for the 150W and 200W mods listed above unless you plan to operate them well below their maximum capacity.
Drip Tip for a Safe Lip
One thing I like very much about a lot of the vape mods right now is that they manage to create lots of rich vapor without burning the user. This is achieved by combining sub ohm resistance and airflow control with the wide bore mouthpiece design and Delrin insulation. Delrin turns up frequently in this category as an efficient insulator. Airflow control is stacked in three parts of the bottom cap for considerable precision.
Summary of the Sigelei Ares
The tank is wide at 24 mm, which is ironic since coil builds suggest vapers will want to pair the Ares with their smaller mods. Top-filling makes life easier for vapers who spend a lot of time at 50 watts or 500F.
Juice control is another feature, allowing consumers to adjust the flow of e liquid as well as air. The Ares is made from stainless steel and glass as you might have guessed given that almost every sub ohm tank has been constructed from the same materials. There’s nothing else suitable for vaping at high values because plastic or inferior alloys could either become warped by the high temperatures or release toxic fumes.
The Kit
A Sigelei Ares RBA comes complete with those two coils listed above. You’ll be ready to vape from the get-go. A drip tip is also pre-installed and Sigelei provides a manual to go with their tank. Look for an authentication card too: this proves you are holding a real Sigelei Ares, not a clone.
