Aspire’s tank series is generally lauded by the e cig public for its quality and variety. Their entry into the sub-ohm vaping world was an Atlantis tank followed by the Triton.

Like all good designers, Aspire decided they weren’t fully satisfied with the original Triton and thought it could be adjusted and improved a little following customer’s suggestions.

Here is what you can expect from the Aspire Triton 2 rebuildable tank.

Aspire Triton 2

Standard features include multiple coil options, stainless steel caps, and a Pyrex tube. There’s adjustable airflow, a removable drip tip, and organic cotton coils. The coil is made from surgical grade stainless steel (316L).

Prebuilt coil specifications are 0.3 ohms for up to 55 watts, 0.4 ohms for up to 30 watts, 1.8-ohm coils for 10W to 13W, and a 0.15 Ni200 coil for TC mods. There is also a Clapton coil rated 0.5 ohms. A Clapton coil is wider so there’s more surface area which, according to Aspire, means you get more vapor and more intense flavor. The Clapton coil is for use at 40W to 45W.

Optional RTA

You can also rebuild the coil system independently, but only try this if you are experienced. Aspire posts a visual diagram indicating the many parts involved and how they go together in a Triton 2.

They also put up an online chart as another way of viewing wire gauge against suggested resistance and wattage. These are only suggestions but it’s worth heeding what these experts have to say: they know what works and how a system can go wrong if you decide to be a rebel.

Top Fill Atomizer Tank

You may have noticed that more tanks these days give you the option to fill from the top. This way you don’t have to turn the tank upside down or remove the bottom cap: all you do is lift off a portion of the top cap and there’s no spillage involved. Line up a water drop on one portion of the cap with the arrow on the piece you lifted out to ensure the tank is secure once more.

Changes to the Triton

This all looks classy and simple to use, so what changed between this Triton and the original?

Firstly, the original spotted a large viewing window and more metal. There were fewer coil options but less capacity by 0.5 ml. It looks as though Aspire update airflow control. They say you can truly customize airflow using the dial provided. Two fins, heat sinks, remove heat from the tip so you don’t burn your lips.

There are still a few of the Triton original around for comparison. The entire thing comes apart, so users can really clean the Triton in order to maintain good working order and prevent a build up of e juice that would eventually spoil the flavor of other e liquids and potentially make parts stick together. When they stick and you exert force, there goes your glass tank.

Buy the Tank

The 3-ml Triton 2 is inexpensive as sub-ohm tanks go: about $35. It’s widely available and sold next to many of the top VW and TC box mods.
