The new Eleaf iStick Basic Kit is two parts in one: a GS-Air 2 Atomizer and a 2300-mAh iStick mod base/frame. That is the basic info for a basic kit, but Eleaf is selling their kit short with a name like this which also suggests a traditional VW mod package. Think more “eGrip” and less “iStick.”

Easy Magnetic Connection

Eleaf says there is a magnetic connection between the atomizer and battery: not in the romantic sense but in technical terms. In other words, this is a proprietary system, so convenience goes right out the window in one regard. They say the system is compatible with any 14-mm atomizer tank, but it’s all rather confusing.

You need one in your hand to see up close. It isn’t versatile, so if this system does not work for you then you can’t just swap out the tank and use whatever else you have the way you would with a vape mod and a 510-threaded sub ohm RTA. The magnetic connector works with 510/eGo atomizers measuring 14 mm in diameter quite specifically.

GS-AIR 2 Atomizer

This is a 0.75-ohm tank: sub ohms at a strange level, but still better than low ohms. It is only 2 ml deep, but since the resistance is relatively high, wattage will be low and that means you are not vaporizing e juice as quickly as you would if wattage limits were, say, up to 100 watts.

The GS-Air 2 Atomizer is long (70 mm including the narrow drip tip), thin, and removable for dismantling, cleaning, to replace coils, or to replace broken parts. Eleaf says the Basic battery will support a range of 0.4 ohms to 5 ohms, so if you care to find a 0.4-ohm replacement, head for the GS-Air 2 Atomizer.

Adjustable Air Flow

Although this looks like an all-in-one machine, it’s deceptive and there are ways to customize. The GS-Air 2 comes with an adjustable airflow valve which, as you know, can truly alter the way vapor tastes and feels and also affects the method by which you inhale.

Select a Color

Choose silver, black, or gray. Select blue, pink, or red. Each contrasts with the silver mouthpiece of your tank (possibly stainless steel, but Eleaf does not mention materials). See your e juice through a narrow window in the frame and this might add another vivid dimension if your preferred e liquid isn’t colorless (it’s not recommended that you vape artificially colored e liquids). The frame is only 81 mm tall, and with the atomizer inside the entire thing is scarcely longer. Although not adjustable like an iStick 60W or similar, the Basic kit is portable.

Recharging the Battery

The Eleaf iStick Basic Kit battery is fitted with a micro-port so you can charge its 2300-mAh battery without getting it out of the case. Your kit comes with a USB cable for this purpose. This should require roughly 3 hours. A red light indicates the charger is working but when the light goes out you are ready to vape. A 2300-mAh battery should last for an entire weekend, maybe longer; certainly longer than 2 ml of e juice.

Operating the Eleaf iStick Basic Kit

Activate the Eleaf iStick basic battery base by pressing its power button five times rapidly. This turns it on or off.
