The standard width measurement for mechanical mods or regulated high-watt tube mods is 22 mm, representing devices that take 18-series batteries. The average rebuildable tank or RDA also measures 22 mm because manufacturers want their designs to be as suitable for as many devices as possible. That is why you see items like the Horizon Tech Arctic Tank and comparable atomizers measuring exactly 22-mm wide.

The Horizon Arctic Tank for Sub Ohm Vaping

Manufacturers also started a trend with the rebuildable sub ohm tank atomizer. Most tanks (the Aerotank, Protank, Nautilus, etc.) were designed to operate at very low ohms but not sub ohm resistance. That might have been holding some vapers back from experimenting with high-watt mods and mechanical mods: they did not want the trouble of having to drip their juice.

Only a tank was really convenient, but most tanks are not set up for sub ohm vaping and they cannot be rebuilt to quite the same extent. Several of them don’t offer adjustable airflow either.

Horizon joined the movement and added their attractive, glass and steel atomizer to a growing list which includes the Tesla Vortek, Innokin iSub G, and the JoyeTech Delta. This sub ohm atomizer tank is fairly priced at about $30. Small notches around the top cap break up the potential monotony of 304 stainless steel and glass and distinguish Horizon’s from many others with a similarly clean and straightforward design.

Three Convenient Coil Systems

Horizon also uses the Bottom Turbine Coil (BTC) which means you have to buy their specific coils for about $3 to $4. They are made from US Kanthal wire and organic cotton. Replacement coils come in regular and dual-coil configuration.

Horizon also released Ni200 versions for their Arctic tank, so you have three choices around the same price range and three resistance levels: 0.2, 0.5, and 1.2 ohms. With the addition of Ni200, the Arctic is now suitable for that other big trend: the temperature control (TC) mod.

TC Mods and the Arctic Tank by Horizon

If you are operating a device with the option of temperature control, you have to install Ni200 coils in order to select this function. These are sensitive to high temperatures, reduce energy and juice consumption, while providing more vapor. TC mode is an excellent innovation set to make the industry safer too since TC mode allows you to regulate a device to a maximum temperature, usually 600F.

The Arctic can handle anything up to 100W which includes numerous devices with the temperature control function. If you already bought this 22-mm tank then upgraded your vaporizer to a high-tech TC device, you don’t have to switch tanks or alter what sort of e juice you ordinarily vape. Just change the coils you buy.
