It might be too late to buy the Pioneer4You IPV D3 as a Christmas present unless your local vendor is very quick about bringing them in. This could be a last minute surprise instead.

Some people wait for the New Year to start celebrating anyway: there is too much of a rush towards December 25th to think about shopping.

What if loved ones can’t get to you by the big day? Make someone happy with a late vape gift of 80 watts and temperature control.

Looks Are Not Everything

I am not super impressed with Pioneer4You’s new box mod in the looks department.

Its aluminum frame gives off the appearance of black plastic: all shiny at first, but destined to appear scratched and cheap within weeks. Maybe the frame is durable but appearances suggest otherwise. It’s also only sold in black, but Pioneer4You says this is a sturdy mod, so here’s hoping. The top and sides are softly rounded, so this will feel natural cradled in the palm of your hand.

Control Panel

A slope from the top to one side gives way to your control panel with one small power button and two smaller plus/minus switches. Below these are the small screen and micro port. You can charge the IPV D3 from a laptop or remove the battery and recharge it separately. Your kit does not come with the necessary 18650 cell.

YiHi Chip

Pioneer4You once more supplies the high-performance YiHi chipset, version 2 of model SX 130H. This provides protection if you restore a recharged battery wrong way around or your atomizer resistance is too low and a short circuit is threatened.

There’s also protection from low voltage and over-heating while you will receive a warning about too much voltage. There are lots of ways vaping can go wrong at 80 watts, but vaping tech has kept up in order to safeguard users and their equipment.

Eighty-watt Maximum

Set your vaping output to as much as 80 watts (1 to 7 volts) using a compatible atomizer. If you select one with an RBA or temperature control (TC) coil replacements, then you can drop resistance to as low as 0.15 ohms with Ni200 or Titanium coils. These are best reserved for TC or Joule mode which is the only setting in which such low resistance is possible or safe. The range is 10J to 75J or 212F to 572F; typical for temperature control.

Pros and Cons

It is positive that you can recharge your lightweight mod wirelessly or plug into a USB power source. You always have the choice of finding a new, charged cell or simply hooking up to your laptop. There are no more screws to worry about with battery covers these days either.

I like the power range: more than 80 watts seems excessive to me, especially with temperature control in your hand. YiHi’s chip is probably second only to Evolv’s DNA chipset, so you are well protected.

Every atomizer goes with black (same as with clothing), and temperature-sensitive coils help you make sub ohm vaping more efficient. Your juice will disappear quickly, in general, but not quite as quickly with TC coils. Conserve battery power in TC mode too by reaching high temperatures and staying there at a low output.

My biggest problem with the IPV D3 by Pioneer4You is its black exterior on the black version. Vaping isn’t fashion, I know, but this mod is very, very monochrome. There is literally no contrast in the button department. Everything melts into black like a shadow including your buttons.

Pioneer4You says the exterior is made from aluminum, but it is cheap-looking in my opinion. Then again, the proof is in the vaping as they say. This is still so new that some stores are waiting for their stock and customers remain on the pre-order list. Experience could prove me wrong.
