SMOK hopes their new mod kit, the OSUB Kit, will be a great success. Of course they have high hopes, and why wouldn’t they? The whole thing fits in a pocket for mobile vaping. Here is the skinny on this slender vape mod set for experienced vapers in the 40W to 60W range.

Stylish SMOK OSUB Kit

There are two versions of the kit and 4 colors. Choose the Mini or the TC in red, white, silver, or black, red being the sportiest and attractive, but the others are also clean and classy. A distinctive feature of the OSUB mod is its cover.

The magnetic door is shaped like a “C” to hold the battery in its place. The top rounded corner is also your firing key. It doesn’t stick out like a regular button but conforms to the shape of your mod smoothly. There is no screen breaking up the uniformity of a Mini but additional room on the TC version provides just enough space for a very small, cleverly oriented screen.

It’s right out of the way in a top-face cover. Two tiny adjustment buttons are set directly below it, items not included on the Mini because it is controlled by the power of your battery and the resistance of your coil.

Battery Cover

That sleek door is covering a cell measuring 1200mAh or 1350mAh. The Mini, a really slender version of the OSUB, contains the smaller of these cells which is recharged internally using the USB charging port. To reach this part, merely remove the side cover. A cable is included.

Matching Tank

SMOK supplies a matching Helmet tank, the Mini or the Nano. A Mini measures 22 mm while the Nano is a 19-mm tank. A 510-threaded mouthpiece adopts a V-shape to provide a vapor channel that is set to create reams of vapor. The material for this mouthpiece is also eco-friendly and insulated so you don’t burn yourself.

Adjust airflow at the top rather than the bottom cap: this is the newest change to vape tanks and seems to be catching on. The air slot becomes an easily-adjustable circle for totally open, moderately airy, or completely closed airflow.

Choose one of SMOK’s compatible coils for vaping at up to 60W with the Mini OSUB. Coils for the Nano and Mini are not interchangeable. There is a Clapton 0.4-ohm fused dual core pre-installed Nano coil, recommended for vaping between 20 and 45 watts. The Mini tank features one of the same sorts of coils, a 0.6 fused Clapton DC, and can also be fitted with a 0.85 Clapton single coil if you like to hover at very low wattage.

Refill the Helmet tank from under its black mouthpiece. As you do so, the “visor” of this “helmet” fills up with juice. A Mini version holds up to 2.5 ml of e juice versus 1.7 ml for the Nano.

Protected Pocket Vape

The OSUB kit wouldn’t be a SMOK device without protective features. One of these is limits to how much wattage is available and the maximum temperature. The TC/Mini combination provides up to 40 watts or 600F. A Mini Mod and Nano pairing takes you to 60 watts.

Last Thoughts on the SMOK OSUB Kit

This is truly designed to be portable, light, and small. Although it’s a box mod, very few devices of this nature have come as close as this one to being a cylinder. One side is ergonomically rounded.

The Mini version measures 19.5 x 30.5 x 75 mm, making it especially narrow but pretty short as well. A long, slender machine like this with the triangular mouthpiece on top takes on the shape of a bullet, an odd felt pen, and is suggestive of many other things besides a vaping device.

The Nano tank measures just 19 x 50 mm which, on the whole, gives it a total length of 125 mm or just 4.9 inches. Vape technology gets smaller all the time but seems to be capable of just as much heat and vapor as before.
