The Herakles sounds like a Greek god, so it must be made by Aspire, right? Maybe Smok or Innokin puts this one out; perhaps Sigelei or JoyeTech? You would be wrong. The name behind the Herakles is “Sense” from the same location as those other, bigger names (Shenzhen, China). Sense is the underdog in a vaping race but their tank joins a winning pack at the front.
Sense Herakles Tank: What Does It Look Like?
You would have to say Sense followed a template when they designed their Herakles tank. It is a standard-looking transparent glass and stainless steel device.
This RTA stands out because of what is inside and how it works, but first impressions tell you they did not reinvent the tank shape. Their drip tip is tall and wide, stepped in this case.
There’s airflow adjustment, as you would expect, plus a little bit of stylization at the bottom. A three-layered ridge is sandwiched between metal portions on the bottom cap with knurled areas for grip.
BVC Coil
Like Aspire, Sense uses a Bottom Vertical Coil (BVC) in order to ensure you can handle the thickest e juices: from 50/50 to 100% vegetable glycerin. BVC is less likely to clog and produces excellent flavor.
It’s an efficient system. In this case, Sense uses a pre-installed 0.2-ohm coil for very low resistance. The 0.2-ohm installation is new, lower than their previous version. Revisit the Herakles if your previous experience seemed not to meet your vapor needs. The brand will live up to its reputation.
Vapor Reputation
It might sound like hype when a company says that BVC is better than horizontal coils, but it’s not. Many vaping experts would argue that the Sense Herakles tank is one of the top RTAs you can buy, not a statement qualified by “for the money.” Yes, it’s cheaper than many other comparable models, but don’t let that fool you.
Technical Details
There’s more to the Herakles than its BVC setup. Sense installed 6 wicking points and created 5 places for juice to enter the head. They say this makes for speedy uptake and consistent vapor production, but not speed at the expense of flavor or quality. Vapor production is amazing and so is the taste of vapor produced by your 3-ml tank.
Drip tips in this class are usually wide-bore and the Herakles is no exception. It utilizes a wide, Delrin-insulated bore in order to dissipate heat effectively. You want e juice to get hot so it vaporizes, but to cool down on inhalation. That way you really taste it.
Copper contacts in the bottom cap ensure voltage drop is as low as possible. This makes the Herakles a great partner for mechanical mods like the Dimitri which rely on technical subtleties like this one to perform safely.
