Version 3 of the Guardian Pipe by SMOK is so realistic vapers will probably fool most of the people most of the time. Maybe pipe lovers can tell the difference without looking very hard but are still sure to be impressed by its resemblance to that traditional way of smoking tobacco.

Dropping pipe-tobacco e liquid into a tank fitted to a cylindrical or box-shaped battery removes some of the enjoyment from smoking which pipe smokers associate with their habit. It is not just a way of getting their fill of nicotine but a sophisticated pleasure and a kind of ritual to light the pipe on a Sunday afternoon and sit back in an easy chair to read the Sunday Times.

Grandchildren often smell the aroma of a certain pipe tobacco such as Cavendish, Perique, or Burley and associate it with fond memories of a long-lost pipe-smoking grandfather or uncle.

SMOK Guardian III Kit

Vapers have long been able to emulate their pipe habit using the Guardian, but Version III is an improved version of this SMOK device. Now consumers take advantage of both variable wattage and temperature control in a single device resembling a simple, straight, low-bowl style with red trim.

Pipe Power

SMOK’s Guardian III supplies wattage to 75W if you are operating in variable wattage mode. Switch to variable temperature and specify the warmth you expect to experience when you light up. The maximum is 315C or 600F, standard for a temperature-controlled vaping device.

If you are setting the temperature, a smart chip inside the SMOK Guardian III establishes wattage output to ensure you stay at a selected setting, raising watts for a little while then dropping them again as your temperature is achieved. TC coils easily maintain a high temperature without maximum output, so they don’t require constant blasting from high watts to keep you at 600F. Efficiency is one of their many strong points. The Pipe is powered by a removable 18650-series cell (not included) housed inside the pipe stem. The bowl is topped by a circular OLED screen.

Not Like Grandpa Used to Smoke

While grandpa once answered letters from relatives and business associates using traditional pen and paper, puffing away at his pipe the whole time, today’s vapers answer text messages and emails in the office. They might continue to puff while they correspond and choose a special room in which to vape, but this Bluetooth-connected device is best suited to a tech-savvy individual who will put its BT-compatibility to good use.

Tap in your pipe’s settings with a Smartphone or use this device to read your vaping data without connecting a cord to the pipe. Answer text messages or emails at the same time.

Guardian III Kit

A set costing roughly $65 to $70 contains the pipe, an extension adaptor, plus a Micro TFV4 Plus tank. The regular tank measures 3.5 ml, but to extend the tank you can replace the glass with a 5-ml tube, thereby lengthening the arm of the pipe.

Choose coils from the TFV4 range suited to 75W or TC vaping. SMOK has created several but 0.25 ohms is the limit for a Guardian III Pipe in VW mode. Lower ratings are permitted if you are varying temperature and using a Nickel 200 or Titanium element.

Measurements

The Guardian III measures roughly 102 mm and the Micro TFV4 is 24.5 mm wide plus 51 mm tall. This is not meant to be a stealthy combination. SMOK’s PC and ABS pipe construction is light compared with a real pipe.
