Smok has been knocking out tanks and vaporizers like there’s no tomorrow. Do they know something that we don’t? It’s as though their R&D department drank too many energy drinks and had to let their creativity loose in a rush. The Smok TCT tank follows fast on the heels of several other excellent rebuildable tank atomizers by this well-known manufacturer from Shenzhen.

TCT: Temperature Control Tank

Actually, a lot of manufacturers have rushed to release their temperature control atomizers to go with TC vaporizer mods. Temperature control is the latest trend and popular for several reasons.

One is energy reduction: TC mods use less of it to produce as much heat as they did with more battery power and higher wattage. That’s owing to the requirement of temperature-sensitive coils when operating in TC mode.

They also use less e juice than previously, so TC mods like the eVic VT 60W save on e liquid and power; thus, vapers save money two ways.

There’s one other very important reason to switch from VW to TC mode: safety. With VW mods containing safety chips, temperature protection stopped your mod from becoming dangerously hot and causing batteries to explode. A vaporizer in TC mode lets you select the temperature you consider ideal and keeps the mod at that rate consistently by reducing output automatically.

The Smok TCT tank was designed for use with these mods and their specific requirement of TC coils. It comes with a 0.15-ohm DVC head built in, ready to vape at up to 600F.

More Elements of the Smok TCT

This 22-mm tank was made for Smok XPro vaporizers, but it also suits just about any vape mode rated 50W or over because these are usually large enough to support the look of a large tank. Something as small as an iStick 20W might be too little to appear suitable.

A kit for the Smok TCT comes with colored O-rings: 4 red and 4 black. Green ones are also available and you will see them through the glass of your tank. In one sense, Smok breaks away from the crowd with their colored O-rings, but in another sense they stick with tradition by opting for a transparent glass tube. Smok also packages their atomizer with a spare tube in case yours breaks, plus a replacement coil.

More coils from authorized retailers cost about $3 each: keep a few handy. They burn down more slowly than Kanthal wire but you are still going to get through a few each month. Rectangular intake windows inside the coil head are fairly large to create a lot of vapor. The TCT airflow valve has been newly designed to make the most of this feature and give you control over vapor temperature and volume.
