The Phoenix Tank uses an ingenious ceramic coil system which is catching on with many vape makers including CeraVape, Gigue, and Council of Vapor. It is a sub ohm tank for use with high-watt devices removing the need for regular changing you find with silica or organic cotton. Ceramic coils are also very clean and don’t interfere with e juice flavor.
Long-lasting Clean
If this is anything like other ceramic wick tanks, the wick should withstand regular use for about 3 months at a consistent 0.5-ohm resistance all the way. This is a replaceable coil too, so don’t let the $40 cost scare you off. You’ll save money where coil replacements are concerned.
Small Tank
Your profile at the top of your mod setup will be relatively short, thanks to this 2-ml, 22-mm tank. It’s not a big vessel, so you lose that top-heavy, vulnerable feeling so common with tall glass tanks.
Even though it’s a miniature sized vessel, when you stand the Phoenix next to some of the 4- to 7-ml giants you can buy, use the top-fill method and the hassle of removing the Phoenix tank from a mod or even the bottom cap from your tank every time a refill is required is gone.
Specifications
A 22 mm width is fairly common, but don’t go looking for tanks to break the mold. That would be self-defeating: 22 mm fits with so many devices like mechanical tube mods using 18650-series. Choose almost any device from 50W to 120W and this compact RBA was made to work comfortably there. It’s only 52 mm tall; beautifully short but effective.
The honeycomb shield in your wide bore drip tip prevents spit back and increases vapor. Airflow is adjustable of course; you couldn’t have a sub ohm tank without that feature. It’s a 510-threaded accessory for virtually all sub ohm tanks, but the coil operates at between 0.45 and 0.5 ohms.
Aesthetics of the Phoenix
Although this is a stainless steel tank with a transparent glass tank and could be fairly dull to look at, Council of Vapor adds accents with their soft, easy-grip silicone bands around the top and bottom caps. These also prevent leaking but can be removed if they don’t match your device or you just prefer a clean stainless steel aesthetic.
Wide-Bore Tip
Council of Vapor is careful not to forget little details, like insulation in the drip tip. Its width and spit-back design are wonderful, but insulation isn’t just a fun feature; it’s a safety element preventing people from burning their mouths.
In the Packet
When your $40 tank arrives, it’s understandable to hope there will be more than the Phoenix with a pre-installed ceramic coil inside. That’s a big investment after all, with some great $15 RBAs out there. The Phoenix arrives with a spare glass tube and two drip tips, one black, one white. A cleaning brush is also included so you can keep the wick clean which will extend its life.
More from Council of Vapor
Council of Vapor also makes several other atomizers, several limited edition beauties in fact, but also a 22-mm mechanical mod. Each item by Council of Vapor is an elegant and artistic piece; a work of vaping art.
The Kindred 1.5 mechanical mod is one example of this. The Phoenix, however, would be an excellent and complementary addition to other mechanical and regulated devices such as the gorgeous and unusual wooden Tesla 120W.
