Just when you think Innokin can’t think of anything else to do with the Cool Fire because their top mod is already cool enough, they go and make a Cool Fire IV Plus.

Aesthetically, you are still looking at the same model — they haven’t reverted to hand grenades once more — but there is more to love about the Plus size. New features are all on the inside, though; beauty comes as standard.

Extended Output

While you were able to set wattage for up to 60 watts with the previous version, an Innokin Cool Fire IV Plus can be set at up to 70 watts. That extra 10 watts can make a big difference to satisfaction: more flavor, thicker vapor, and warmer mouth feel. Select a number from 6 to 70 watts or 2 to 7.5 volts. Maximum output is 26.5A. Hold a lot of power in your hands but not too much.

Good Memory

The Cortex might be Innokin’s brainy child but the Cool Fire IV Plus is the one with memory. Its internal chip will recall your last setting in volts or watts. It also counts your puffs, so you can log how much vaping you get from each setting or how far a 15-ml bottle of e juice goes. In these higher wattage settings, e juice does not last as long as it used to which is alarming since you probably splurge on better, more expensive stuff at the sub ohm level too.

Safeguarding Vapers

The Innokin Cool Fire IV Plus, like all regulated vape mods of any quality, contains a secret weapon to defend against the risks built into a high-powered mod. These include low voltage, short circuit, over-charging, and others. The Cool Fire IV Plus chip will either prevent a problem or warn you to make a move of some kind.

Recharge at the Port

When you need a power boost, drop anchor at the USB port. Attach the cable which came with your device to the laptop USB connection or another source and continue to vape. If you just leave the Innokin Cool Fire IV Plus to recharge without interfering, it will charge more quickly, though, and most vapers at this level own a secondary vaporizer. A three-color LED battery light indicator tells you how things stand with the charge rate of your 3300-mAh in-built cell.

On Display

OLED display provides a bright, clear picture of your mod’s current activities. Read your voltage, wattage, and the resistance of your atomizer. Keep track of puffs. The lowest your Cool Fire can handle where atomizers are concerned is 0.1 ohms although vendors supply packages with the Cool Fire IV and Apex atomizer which only fires at down to 0.2 ohms using organic cotton coils (or a 0.5-ohm option). The display and control buttons are collected along a narrow panel (colored black in contrast to blue or red; the black and silver mods are all one color).

Choose your Atomizer

With a spring-loaded 510 threading well made from stainless steel there are several advantages:

• durability
• compatibility
• corrosion resistance
• smooth threading

You don’t have to attach an Apex atomizer although it is convenient and relatively inexpensive for someone in the atty market looking seriously at a Cool Fire IV Plus to buy the pre-selected kit with extra drip tips and coils. Without thinking, you buy an atomizer that fits both visually and performance-wise.

Innokin designed the two pieces to work seamlessly together. You could, however, choose an Eleaf Melo 2 or a Kanger Subtank Mini and experience similarly great performance. Kanger even uses a red contrast O-ring which would look great if you operate a black or red Cool Fire IV Plus.
