Dovpo must be aiming to compete with Smok, Eleaf, and others in the VW box mod department. They have released several box mods, maybe some of them a long time ago, but without adequate fanfare.

After the release of their E-LVT vaporizer, there didn’t seem to be much word from Dovpo, but they were working and launching products. All that Dovpo lacks is the marketing prowess exemplified by JoyeTech, Innokin, Kanger, and other Chinese contemporaries.

The Guardian 1.5 by Dovpo costs far more than the same company’s TC-50, GX-200, or their Executive, but that’s because of features like the ones I’m going to tell you about.

Dovpo Guardian 1.5: Looking after Vapers

Why is it called the “Guardian?” Dovpo’s goal is to maintain a high level of safety, this time utilizing a TC function or “temperature control.” In this mode, the user maintains a maximum temperature which he dials in at the outset. The mod will also prevent overheating when you select variable wattage mode as opposed to temperature control.

Three-button System

This is a fully regulated mod without a mechanical option, so it comes with all the buttons you need: one for on/off and two for controlling watts, volts, or temperature. Their large (0.91″) screen is placed last on the control panel after the lineup of switches in a change from the usual design, but that is a minor alteration in the ordinary style of things.

Instead of an inset screen or even the black strip screen from Eleaf, Dovpo uses a seamless silver screen with white lettering which is bright but not as easy to see as white on black. External finishing is also pretty new.

Soft Exterior

The Dovpo Guardian 1.5 is made from zinc alloy as are many box mods. This material is light but not soft. Dovpo added silica to the exterior and gave the vaporizer a unique, rounded appearance at one edge. With silica, that zinc alloy feels better and even looks softer.

Externally, even as the mod and your e juice become hot, your box remains cool to the touch. Dovpo adopted the appearance of a folded notebook: this could be a tiny green or black day timer in its own zip pouch. The Guardian 1.5 measures just 100 x 57 x 28.5 mm.

Technical Details from Dovpo

Dovpo says that their $120 vaporizer provides up to 150W of power and can fire at 0.1 ohms, a very low level indeed. Now is the time to attach a Smok TF V4 with their quad-coil head and apply thick e liquids by The Schwartz or Cyber e liquids.

Choose a Ni200 coil if you plan to use the Guardian 1.5 in TC mode. Vapers cannot operate in temperature control mode with any other types of coils using this Dovpo model. Normal coils are acceptable when you are varying wattage rather than temperature and operate at resistance up to 3 ohms as opposed to a 1 ohm maximum with Ni200 coils. Voltage is 6.5V to 8.4V.

Highlights and Lowlights

I see no mention of USB charging, so it looks like batteries must come out for charging. There aren’t a lot of colors to choose from, but TC mode is safer than VW when it works so that is a definite selling point. Dovpo’s system encourages customers to vape responsibly and efficiently with high-tech coils.
