User rating

Rounded corners against a symmetrical shape and the image of a tugboat can mean only one thing: Flawless has released another box mod. This one is unregulated, which means wattage is not adjustable using buttons and there is no screen to guide you along.

Purchase the Tuglyfe Unregulated box mod only if you are an experienced and confident mod user who understands how to wrap or choose coils in order to set up your system to personal satisfaction.

Battery Basics

The Tuglyfe is spacious within to accommodate two 18650 batteries. Vendors recommend that you select 20-amp cells or better and IMR/INR because these are not included.

As you have guessed, this means batteries are removable for recharging: replace with charged batteries and continue to vape wirelessly. Don’t let a little thing like a dead battery stop you from getting the most out of your favorite mod.

Made to Imperfection

Most box mods (and e cigs for that matter) are made in a factory with thousands of others just like them. Factory personnel barely touch these items except to inspect a few after they come off the line.

The Tuglyfe Unregulated box mod by Flawless is CNC-made: hand-machined by a real person. You might notice the human touch in small imperfections which give each mod unique character. That’s besides colors such as white, black, and soft blue. Each Tuglyfe mod also bears the image of a tugboat blowing its stack and riding the waves. I am assuming it is that cloud of vapor flowing from the tugboat’s stack that inspired the designer of this simple but attractive device to come up with the name.

One Button

An unregulated mod does not feature an OLED screen or protection from a built-in chip that warns you of low voltage, etc. You can’t press a button to change from voltage to wattage mode or select a temperature. What you can do is turn it on at the large stainless steel power button engraved with the Flawless logo. Now, add an atomizer set to a certain resistance and your device will reach a certain output according to that resistance.

The lowest you can safely fire down to is 0.15 ohms, thanks to MOSFET protection. I recommend installing Ni200 or Titanium coils if you plan to go that low, but anything higher than 0.2 ohms is safe with a stainless steel coil. That being said, if you err on the side of caution, installing temperature-sensitive coils helps keep your mod cool, slows down battery drain, and uses less e juice.

Self-Adjusting Pin

The Tuglyfe Unregulated mod is built with a self-adjusting connection made from brass. This means two things:

• brass is highly conductive, so your performance should be consistent
• all sorts of atomizers will attach flawlessly, sitting into the well like they were born there

Some people say a self-adjusting spring-loaded pin won’t connect as well as a fixed one, but you’ll have to read what customers say: their ratings for the Tuglyfe Unregulated paint a picture of reliability. Besides, you could be on a waiting list until the next one comes out which says plenty about the popularity of Flawless products.

Atomizer Attraction

What atomizer should you pair with this softly rounded box mod costing about $130? It’s too highly rated to pair the Tuglyfe with anything less beautiful than a Tugboat atomizer like the V2 RDA available in splatter style and solid colors featuring more tugboats and flags.

There are several bright shades of blue, pink, red, etc., plus a stainless steel version using a 3-post design, flush mounted cap, big juice well, and dual airflow holes for $89.99.

Pick a color to match the shade of your mod.
